Description

Round blue button with the white inscription "MADELINE". There is a maker's mark along the edge that reads, "J. Freides Co., Mamaroneck, NY 10543".

Context

Though it is unclear which Madeline this button was made for, it could be Madeline Harwood of Madeline Manahan. Madeline Harwood went for the U.S. House in 1974 but lost in the Republican primary. She ran for state representative from Bennnington-Rutland 2 and won in 1988, but lost her bid for re-election in 1990. Madeline Manahan was a Democrat elected as state representative from the Franklin-2 district in 1994 and 1996.
