Description

A pewter plate with a plain rim and decorated center. The rim has the initials "MS" engraved. The center of the plate is decorated with a painting of two birds standing on branches. The bird to the left has blue and brown coloring and the bird on the right has orange and brown coloring. The branches are brown with a few green leaves and pink flowers. The background is multicolored (blue, pink, yellow).

Context

The plate likely belonged to Melinda Burditt (1817-1901) who married John Stevens in 1896. They lived in Pittsford, Vermont. The plate was passed down through generations of their family.
