Description

Red-painted wooden canteen with flat, circular sides and a bentwood edge. There is a hole, but no spout. It is accompanied by remnants of a blood-stained silk handkerchief. One side is scratched with the inscription, "Jan 7 75 Bunker Hill".

Context

Said to have been used by Captain William Ripley during the American Revolutionary War.
