Description

Two four-star epaulets with the US Navy insignia. The epaulets are gold with four silver stitched stars. They are rectangular with one pointed end, at which theres is a gold anchor and a button. There is leather strap on the underside.

Context

Henry Thomas Mayo was promoted to the rank of 4-star Admiral on June 19, 1916 and at that time became Commander-in-Chief of the Atlantic Fleet.
