Description

A Model 1833 dragoon sabre. The blade is very slightly curved, with the sharpened side curving up to meet the flat side in a point at the end. The handle is wrapped in leather and has a bronze guard. The letters "MS" are stamped on the guard.

Context

Purchased from a member of the Company of Fenians as they were returning from their raid in Canada. The Fenians were Irish immigrants who invaded Canada in order to gain support for Irish independence.
