Description

Cream-colored satin-woven silk skirt with a long, round train. The skirt is styled in several layers, with a pleated side sweep leading into the long train. The front is trimmed with three rows of knife pleats at the hem and several rows of pleating and lace throughout. The hem of the train is decorated on the underside by layers of pleating and lace, and the whole is lined with stiff netting.

Worn by Anna S. Higgins at her marriage to George Briggs in Brandon, Vermont, in 1881.
