Auctioneer's cane. The cane is a polished plain wood surface with slightly worn angled sides. It is printed, "C.W. GRAY & SONS, INC., / E. THETFORD, VT. / AUCTION EVERY MONDAY" in stamped black lettering.

Context

C.W. Gray & Sons, Inc., was founded by Carlton Gray with his sons Herbert and Larry in 1947. The family business continued in livestock auctions until 1997, when they transitioned to primarily equipment and dealer auto auctions that they run in East Thetford to this day.
