Oversize printed photograph of Claude Adams of Stowe, farmer and longtime ticket taker for the state at the lot at Mount Mansfield used by skiers. The photo shows Adams standing against an open barn door with posters and notes about the Stowe lifts tacked to the wood behind him. Stowe has a dark felt hat and wears a striped collared shirt with the sleeves rolled up and tucked into pants wearing dark suspenders. He leans against the doorway out of the frame on the proper right side and has his left hand in his pocket. The photograph is adhered to cream-colored mat board that has darkened with age and was donated in a stained blue mat border.
The original photo was taken in August of 1959. Written on the back of the tan mat board are the words, "AUGUST 1959 / FRANK B. WARD / 109 CHARTER RD. / WETHERS FIELD, CONN. / To Mr. Claude Adams / From The Ward Family" in blue ballpoint pen.
Attached Stowe Magazine winter/spring 2010-2011 issue includes an article about Claude Adams by Brian Lindner, his grandson.Acquisition
