Description

Khaki wool military coat with four front patch pockets and a standing collar. The long-sleeved coat buttons up the center front with 5 metal buttons molded with the initials "US". The pockets are held with the same buttons, as are shoulder straps, and there are matching buttons on the collar.

Context

Worn by Elwyn Jones of Fairhaven, Vermont, during World War I. Elwyn was inducted into the Students Army Training Corps at the University of Vermont for limited service on October 23rd, 1918. The war ended November 11, 1918.
