Tan rectangular paper envelope. The plain envelope is printed in black with the words, "SAMPLE OF / Hood's Tooth Power." in the center. Printed in black on the right edge are the words, "Cut off this end."

Context

This powder was developed by Charles Hood, who was born in 1845 in Chelsea, Vermont where his father had an apothecary shop. He moved to Lowell, MA, when he was 15, having finished school. Eventually he ran one of the largest medicine production companies in 19th century US -- C.I Hood Co.
