Description

Ornate sword and accompanying scabbard. The grip of the sword is shagreen, wrapped with twisted gold wire. The guard is ornately carved brass in a scrollwork pattern with an eagle and the initials U. S. The blade is engraved with floral scrollwork, a large spread eagle and the initials U.S. The scabbard is leather with brass locket/mouthpiece, chase/tip protector, and hook attachments. The top hook attachment is engraved, "Lt. Hiram Rowe, From the Members of Co. A 16th Mass. Vols. Honour to the Brave." The blade is marked "Schuyler Hartley & Graham" and "W Clauberg Solingen."
