Description

Two-piece grey silk dress consisting of a bodice and skirt. The bodice opens at the center front and secures with 12 brown buttons. The sleeves are 3/4 length, and the cuffs are decorated with self-fabric ruffles. The bodice is shaped to the wearer by four tucks, each of which has been let out about 1/4" from the original seam. There is a short, standing collar. The skirt consists of a false underskirt and front drape. The drape is edged with chenille fringe, and the there is room for a back bustle.

Worn by Lottie E. Smith of Standish, ME, at her marriage to Edward F. Willey of Newmarket, NH, in Concord, VT, June 12, 1882.
