Description

Metal eel spear consisting of a short handle and 7 barbed tines. There are three U-shaped rods inserted through the central shaft to create the tines. Each has two backward-facing barbs. The handle is hollow for securing over a wooden handle.

Use

Used to spear eel through ice during the winter.

Context

Found on the bank of the Connecticut River in Westminster, Vermont, following the 1936 flood.
