The medal hangs from an red and white striped ribbon and was sent by "two old Frenchmen" who said it belonged to their great-grandfather. Also two notes from the donors (c and d), the envelop (e) in which the gift was packaged and a photograph (f) of boats and one boatman at an undisclosed location in France.Context
