Description

This is a tall and cylindrical hat with a flat top, made of leather. The hat features a short and rounded front brim, with a diamond-shaped brass mount located in the center front. This brass mount is decorated with an eagle holding a horn, with 8 stars positioned on the top and 9 stars positioned on the bottom. There are also large brass chains that hang from brass buttons located on either side of the top of the hat, with a gold tassel positioned on the proper left button. Additionally, there is a smaller brass chain that goes across the brim of the hat. On the inside of the hat, there is a paper label that reads "Doolittle & Stearns, Saddle & Harness Makers, Burlington, Vt."
