Small, rectangular wooden beam. One side is pasted with a yellowed piece of paper with the handwritten inscription, "this is a piece taken from the Royal Savage Boat Sunk near Valcour Island in the Mar 1812; it was a Brittish Boat". [The information is incorrect.]

Context

Taken from Benedict Arnold's ship, Royal Savage, in Lake Champlain, which was sunk in 1776.
