Section of soapstone water pipe. The pipe is square with a round central hole. There is a small hole of the top to secure a lead ferrule (no longer present).

The soapstone was quarried in Grafton, Vermont; it was made into a pipe in Cambridgeport, Vermont; the pipe was used in Townshend, Vermont
