Wooden chest with lid. The lid hinges open at the back and secures closed with a hook at the center front. Inside the box is a removable tray filled with toy tools, included a hammer, ruler, drill, plumb bob, pencil, chisel, awl, pencil, spools, handle, and bit. Beneath the tray are a plane, a saw, an ax, a mallet, a wooden clamps, miter box, and box of nails. A paper label pasted to the inside lid of the box reads, "THE BOYS' NATIONAL TOOL CHEST. / No. 700. / CONTAINS 24 ARTICLES." with a list of tools. A penciled card accompanying the chest reads, "Dear Duane / I am going to leave this box of tools for you. If you saw any thing you ought not I shall take them away. put them in the chest when not in use. / Santa".Context
