Pieced quilt in a "Robbing Peter to Pay Paul" pattern. The pattern consists of quilt squares that each contain a central piece with concave edges in one color, and a border in second color. The placement of the colors is alternated between blocks, making it appear as if each central piece is within a circle of the same color. The quilt is pieced from printed white and green calico cotton. The white fabric is printed with irregular black spots and triangles. The green is printed with small daisies. It is backed with plain, white cotton and the edges are bounded with the same green calico used in the piecing. The binding is machine stitched, and all the quilting is stitched by hand, following the shape of the piecing with a four-petaled flower in the center of each block. One corner bears the inked inscription, "Hannah 1897".Context
