This belonged to Charles Oliver Baxter (1906-1971), who was born in Highgate, VT, worked in retail sales in Pennsylvania and Middlebury, Vermont, eventually buying and running Boucher Clothing Store in Swanton. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in October of 1942 and rose in rank to a second lieutenant. It appears that he spent the war stateside.
