Description

Commemorative metal consisting of several parts. The outermost layer consists of a pin-backed medal with an eagle and an enameled shield and the inscription, "HONORED GUEST". Hanging from the medal are two bars: the tops says, "GEORGE D. AIKEN", and the bottom says U.S. SENATOR." The next layer consists of a round medal with a rearing elephant in the center and the inscription "MIAMI BEACH / NATIONAL REPUBLICAN CONVENTION 1968" around the edge. The medal is hanging from a red, white, and blue striped ribbon. The innermost layer is a length of red, white, and blue ribbon. The medal is accompanied by a notecard explaining that it is a souvenir and will not gain the wearer entry into the convention.
