Mourning badge consisting of a metal bar pin molded with the initials, "G.A.R.", and a long black ribbon. The ribbon is printed in silver with the inscription, "HONOR THE NOBLE DEAD / IN MEMORIAM / R.B. CRANDALL Post No. 56 BARRE, VT." A GAR membership badge is printed at the center, and the bottom edge is printed with fake tassels.

Likely owned by Emery L. Smith of Northfield, Vermont. Smith was the first mayor of Barre City, Vermont.
