Mourning badge consisting of a long black ribbon and a metal bar pin. The bar pin has a paper name tag printed with the initials "G.A.R." (now partially missing). The ribbon is printed in silver with the inscription, "HONOR THE NOBEL DEAD / RICHARD B. CRANDALL Post No. 56 G. A. R. BARRE, VT." The top of the ribbon is printed with an image of an urn, and a ribbon American flag has been appliqued over it. At the center of the ribbon is a round medallion printed with an image of a GAR membership ribbon and the inscription, "GRAND ARMY OF THE REPBUBLIC". The bottom edge is decorated with silver tassels.Context
