Decorative wall pocket for holding a pocket watch. It is made in two piece (the back and the pocket front) and is in the shape of a slipper. It is made of brown silk and lined with black silk. It is decorated to with clear glass beads sewn onto pieces of paper in the a leaf design, then appliqued onto the pocket.Context
No known VT connections; previously thought to have been made by Frances McEwen for her mother Elizabeth Ward McEwen (family had moved to Illinois by the time these would have been made. They were also Haudenosaunee-made beadwork for the tourist trade.Acquisition
