David M. Miles (1855-1937) had a varied career in numerous locations that included Barre and Burlington, Vermont. According to his obituary, he taught school, was a bookkeeper in Boston, spent two years prospecting and mining in Leadville, Colorado, invested in a sheep ranch in Colorado, started a clothing business in Burlington 1885 then went to Barre and established a clothing store. He then launched a coal and wood business in Barre and ran it for many years. In 1922, his disposed of all his Vermont property and businesses and moved to California where he died in 1937. He married twice and had four children.
