Round, gold medal hanging from a red-white-and-blue striped ribbon. The top of the ribbon is attached to a spring-backed pin. The ribbon is printed in gold with the inscription, "BENNINGTON SESQUI-CENTENNIAL AUGUST 16, 1927 SPECIAL SERVICE BADGE". The front of the medal is molded with an image of a Revolutionary War soldier slouching and holding a long gun in one arm. To his right is the inscription, "VERMONT SESQUICENTENNIAL / IRA ALLEN / HE LED THE FOUNDERS OF THE STATE / 1927". The back of the medal is marked, "THE WHITEHEAD & HOAG CO. NEWARK, N.J." The medal is held onto the ribbon with a metal crimp.Context
