Description

Reportedly a piece of the Arc de Triomphe that was blasted off when the Germans tried to destroy that monument during World War II. It is piece of concrete with a gray/white outer layer slightly different in composition from what is inside. An accompanying note (c) written on graphing paper says in French that the fragment was blown off on May 8, 1944. The chunk came in a blue box (b).

Given to the people of Vermont from the people of France as part of the Merci Train after World War II.
