Description

33 pins, each consisting of a bent straight pin and a small, rectangular plastic tag. The tags are printed with the inscription, "FOR THE BOYS OVER THERE" within a red shield. Beneath the shield on a blue ground is the inscription, "UNITED WAR WORK CAMPAIGN". The back is white printed in blue the mark, "PAT. MAY 16, 1905. WHITEHEAD & HOAG CO., NEWARK, N.J." Through a hole in the center top is straight pin with the head end bent into a small loop.

Context

The United War Work Campaign was an effort to raise $170,000,000 to provide entertainment for American troops stationed abroad during World War I. The campaign began November 11, 1918, the day the war ended.
