From the top, there is a Civil Air Patrol yellow, blue and red insignia, the big blue letters that read, "Civil Air Patrol honors." The honoree's name, "William V. Mason" appears in black print in an outlined banner. The award is specified in blue lettering, "For Distinguished Service as Commander." In another blue-outlined banner, the dates of services are listed -- Nov. 1942- Nov. 1947. The plaque is signed By Paul C. Ashworth, Colonel, USAF, National Commander.
