Blue ribbon with an embossed paper seal. The seal is cut with a spiky edge. It is embossed with the image of an open book in the center and the inscription, "SPRINGFIELD FEMALE COLLEGIATE INSTITUTE SPRINGFIELD, VT 1858" around the edge. There is a narrow braid attached to both long sides of the ribbon.
