Description

13 inch terrestrial globe. The globe depicts the countries and major bodies of water on the Earth, as they were named in 1831. The globe is secured by a metal circle that allows it to spin and set in a wooden stand with four legs, and a flat band of wood around the globe. The band has the zodiac signs and the months of the year written on it. The legs of the stand have been carved into decorative shapes, and on the inside bottom of each is an inwardly protruding arm that ends in an intersecting piece of wood under the globe. The metal is slightly tarnished, and the globe shows signs of wear.
