Description

Brass pocket watch engraved with a floral-shell design. The reverse is engraved with an illegible saying, the name “M. T. Tobias”, and the place, “LIVERPOOL”. The clock has metal works and a white, porcelain face printed with black Roman number also around the outer rim. A remnant of a hand is at the center. At the bottom of the watch face is a second timer with a small hand. There is a convex glass cover over the face.

Context

Given to Edward Ordway of Troy, Vermont, by his family when he enlisted in the Civil War.
