Description

Square linen towel woven in a blue-and-white checked pattern. All four sides have a wider blue stripe, indicating that these were woven to shape. Two sides are selvedges and the other two sides have narrow rolled hems. The towel is accompanied by a fragment of a larger piece in the same checked pattern. One side is hemmed, and there is evidence of removed gathers.

Context

Made by Hannah Caryl Hager in Chester, Vermont. "Natural and indigo, nicely woven and good condition. Nice to have because they are difficult to find now."
