Description

Membership badge consisting of a medallion hanging from a pin bar. The bar is shaped like a scroll and molded with the initials "P.W.P." A blue-enameled 5-pointed star hangs from the center of the bar. The medallions is molded at the center with an image of a man riding a horse. The image is surrounded by a blue enameled belt with the words, "HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE" ["Shame on him who think evil of it"]. The belt is surrounded by acanthus leaves and surmounted by crossed gavels.

Context

Owned by Samuel Jackson of Barre, Vermont. The Sons of St. George was a fraternal society of English immigrants in the United States.
