Description

Black-painted windsor rocking chair. The back has 9 spindles and a straight rail with a headrest with 5 spindles and a straight rail at the top center. There are two scrolled arms, each held by 2 spindles. here are faded gold bands on each of the thin lower spindles and arm supports, probably old paint.

Context

Owned by Cyrus Barber in Barre, Vermont. According to family, Barber brought the chair with him from Warwick, Massachusetts, in 1810.
