Description

Rectangular metal license plate with green ground and white lettering. The words "GREEN MOUNTAINS / VERMONT" are along the top and bottom (respectively) and the license number is "JAN16". A small red sticker in the lower right corner says "EXPIRES LAST DAY OF SEP 78".

Context

Used by Robert Hagerman to celebrate the bicentennial of Vermont signing the Declaration of Independence. He later learned that the correct date was January 17.
