Description

This is a gold brooch with a retractable watch chain coiled inside. There is a gold wire loop on the end of the chain where a watch would attach. When the loop is pulled, the chain uncoils from inside the brooch, and then springs back into the brooch upon release. The brooch has a satin gold finish (not shiny), and the back of the case is gold paint. The brooch has a pin back with no safety catch. There is an inscription on the back that reads: "KETCHAM & MCDOUGALL / PAT / FEB. 24 '03/ APR. 26 '10 / NEW YORK".

Likely owned by a member of the Goodhue or Coolidge families of Burlington and Plymouth, Vermont.
