Miniature portrait of middle-aged man facing right proper. Man wears black jacket, white shirt and tie. Written in ink on the face of the mounting paper: "Only/ _______ Portrait/ lation(?)/of/ Hon. Rev. Asa Lyon, M.C./ Depostied with the Vermont Historical Society/ Oct. 21, 1880/ By Miss Hemenway of Vt." Watercolor portrait miniature on ivory. The portrait shows a middle-aged white man with short hair. His hairline is receding at the corners. He is wearing a black jacket and vest, and white shirt with a cravat tied into a bow. The background is painted brown and shaded to look like curtains. The ivory piece is oval, and there are two vertical cracks. The whole is mounted onto paper that has the inked inscription, "Only C[illeg]zin Portrait taken of / Hon. Rev. Asa Lyon, M. C. / Deposited with the Vermont Historical Society Oc 21, 1880. By Miss Hemenway of Vt."
