Matchbook promoting the purchase of war bonds. Cover features a historic soldier with the words, "For Safety" in red above the image and on the side and below the words, "Buy War Bonds - Stamps." the word 'war" is printed in large red letters and the other words are blue. At the bottom is the warning to "close cover before striking" in small blue letters. On the backside there is a black eagle set against a red background, a white shield with the words "A Safe Investment for a Safe America" printed in blue except the words "Safe" are in red. At the bottom is the message, "Buy War Bonds - Stamps" in blue except for the word "War" which is red. The manufacturer's name -- Universal Match Co. New York -- is printed on the bottom edge. on the top edge written in white on a blue background is the message, "Own a share in America." There are no matches.
