Description

Wooden trunk. The trunk hinges open at the back. The interior of the bottom half of the trunk is painted blue and stenciled with the label, "T. Bl Walter/Burke, Vt." The interior of the lid is separated into multiple compartments: two large cubbies on the right at smaller lidded compartments on the left. It is lined with green-painted paper and stenciled in several places with the labels "T. B. Walter" and "T. B. W." The stencils are placed to intentionally overlap onto the compartment lids.

Context

Owned by True Blake Walter during the Civil War. Walter served as a musician in Company E, 15th Regiment Vermont.
