Name/Title

Sap Bucket

Entry/Object ID

Description

Brown-painted wooden sap bucket. The staves are secured by three hoops, one at the top just below the rim and two at the base. There is evidence of a second hoop at the top of the bucket, below the extant one, based on paint lines that show where the paint was applied when the bucket was completed. There is a hole drilled into the top of one stave approximately 1 inch from the top edge. The inset bottom has the initials "S.H.," likely for Samuel Hurlburt of Vergennes, Vermont.
