Description

Miniature of a young man bust/shoulders. His eyes look directly at the artist; his hair parted on his left side is combed forward. The hair on the crown of his head is combed back. He has a pointed chin and a serious expression, wide set eyes. His jacket has a high collar as does his white (yellowed) shirt. The background is painted in circular motions around the outside in browns and lighter browns nearer the head. Engraving on back: "Royall Tyler Jr. / obt. Nov. 7th 1813 ae 19" The miniature is behind domed glass. The pin back is broken
