Description

Hard-sided clutch or wallet. The exterior is made of tortoiseshell and has a small metal plaque engraved with the initials, "RM". The interior is lined with red satin and fans out into four sections. One section can latch closed, using the same central metal bar used to latch the entire wallet closed. A note enclosed in the wallet reads, "Madame Rene Mary".

Context

Given to the people of Vermont from the people of France as part of the Merci Train after World War II.
