Landscape print removed from a book showing a slight bird's-eye view of a city [Burlington, Vermont] on the edge of a body of water [Lake Champlain]. The city has several clusters of buildings separated by low trees. While many of the buildings on nondescript, there are 4 buildings with steeples or cupolas: 2 with pillared steeples, 1 with single-point steeple, and 1 with 4 corner points. The body of water spans across the center of the composition with mountains along the far side. There are 6 crafts on the lake: 1 steamboat, 3 single-masted sailing boats, and 2 unidentifiable boats. A cloudy sky takes up the upper half of the composition, with rays of sunlight shining from the center onto the far mountains. The bottom of the composition is bordered by close foliage, giving the impression that the viewer is standing on a bluff. The words, "Burlington Vermont." are written in pencil at the center bottom.Artwork Details
