Presentation shako with leather and felt crown and brim and large, black feather plume. A brass plaque on the top of the crown reads, "In Memory of Dr. Howard Reid 1912 Presented to Marjorie Strong of the Reid Family in appreciation for their dedication and support to the Norwich University Cavalry Troop". A heavy gold chain spans the front the of the hat, and a large brass medallion is at the center front that reads, "I WILL TRY CAVALRY UNIT NORWICH UNIVERSITY". The interior of the hat is marked, "Bayly, Inc. Size Medium Holywood, FLA."
