Commemorative medal consisting of a bar, a ribbon, and a medallion. The bar is copper and is molded with the word, "SOUVENIR." The grosgrain ribbon is striped yellow (center) and blue (edges) and is printed in gold with the words, "RECEPTION Admiral Dewey 1899." The medallion hangs from an eye ring looped through a larger eye ring looped through the ribbon. It shows the bust of Admiral Dewey and another man surrounded by the words, "MANILA BAY MAY 1. SANTIAGO JULY 3. 1898." The back of the medallion shows the inscription, "YOU CAN COMMENCE FIRING AS SOON AS YOU ARE READY / MAY 1. 1898. / THERE IS GLORY ENOUGH FOR ALL / JULY 3. 1898." within a square frame over a laurel wreath.Context
