Description

"Morrison Vignetter" camera accessory set consisting of a two-part mount, four vignetting cards, a box, and instructions. The box (ab) is made of cardboard and covered in lime-green semi-gloss paper. The label on the lid has a vignetted portrait of a child on the proper right, and an illustration of the vignetter attached to the lens of a King Poco model camera on the proper left. Beneath the images is the inscription, "MORRISON VIGNETTER/BURKE & JAMES, Chicago". The four vignetters (c-f) are cardboard pieces: two in black and two in white (one now grey). The boards are straight on the bottom, but the top curves up to create the vignette shape. Two of the boards have a sawtooth edge on the top, and the other two have less pronounced nicked edge on the top. Each board shows evidence of being slid into the metal mounts for use, but the pieces with the less-pronounced edges appear to have been more heavily used. The boards mount in front of the camera's lens with two pieces of metal (h,i). Both pieces are made from flat metal strips. The piece that connects to the lens consists of a strip bent into a circle to which an L-bent strip is attached. The other piece is bent into a narrow U-shape on one end (for attaching the vignetting board) and a wider U on the other side that can be tightened with a bolt. The two attach by sliding the flat edge of the lens side into the clamp at the wide-U side of the other piece and tightening the connection with the bolt. The instructions are in a bi-fold with example images on the front page and detailed steps on the inside.
