Description

Round white pin with red lettering and images. At the top is the word, "VERMONT" following the curve of the button. The center of the pin has two hands raising up out of a decorative banner seemingly releasing a hawk, a hermit thrush, a fish, a flower, and an oak and maple leaf. The words "CONSERVATION CELEBRATION" fill the banner and there is a spray of flowers in the lower left edge below the banner.

Context

On September 16, 1989, the Vermont Natural Resources Council held an all-day (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) Conservation Celebration on the lawn of the Statehouse. The event included workshops by various environmental organizations on topics such as town planning, weather, forestlands, woodcarving, composting and recycling. Governor Madeleine Kunin spoke along with environmental advocates. There was also music and other entertainment and activities for children.
