Description

Yellow satin-woven silk ribbon printed in red with the inscription, "41st ENCAMPMENT DEPARTMENT OF VERMONT U. S. W. V. / 23rd CONVENTION OF THE DEPARTMENT AUXILIARY / BARRE, VERMONT MAY 17-18, 1953". The logo for the USWV and USWV Auxiliary are printed on the ribbon. There is a T-shaped stick pin sewn into the back of the ribbon at the top hem.

Context

Worn by Edward H. Prouty to the 1953 state-wide encampment of the United Spanish War Veterans, a fraternal organization for veterans of the Spanish-American War, in Barre, Vermont. At the time of his death, Prouty was the last living officer of the Spanish-American War in Vermont.
