Description

Copper coin with a bust on one side and the allegorical figure, Columbia, on the other. The face side shows a right-facing bust of a Roman figure, wearing a laurel wreath on his head, tied with a ribbon at the nape of his neck, and military armor. The words "VERMON AUCTORI" ring the edge. The coin is struck very off center. On the reverse, Columbia is shown swathed in loose fabric, standing near a pedestal or frame. She is holding a balance scale in her left hand, has a large bow across her torso, and has a pike or flag pole with a liberty cap on the top. The words, "IMMUNE COLUMBIA" ring the edge. The date 1785 is at the bottom center.
